Where Does It Live?
The Vincent's least gecko lives on several islands in the Caribbean. You can find it on the Windward Islands. These include Dominica, Martinique, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent. It does not live on Grenada, which is the southernmost island.
What Is Its Home Like?
This gecko loves to live in forests and areas with lots of shrubland. It especially likes places that are moist and shady. You will often find many of these geckos in damp leaf litter. This leaf litter gives them a safe place to hide. It also helps them find food and stay cool and moist.
Reproduction
The Vincent's least gecko reproduces by laying eggs. This means it is an oviparous animal. The female gecko lays her eggs, and then the baby geckos hatch from them.
About Its Name
The second part of the gecko's scientific name, vincenti, comes from the island of Saint Vincent. This is one of the main places where this gecko lives.
Different Types of Vincent's Least Gecko
Scientists have found that there are ten different types, or subspecies, of the Vincent's least gecko. Each subspecies might have slight differences in where they live or how they look.
