Vintter Lake, also known as Palena Lake, is a beautiful lake found in Patagonia. This lake is special because it's shared by two countries: Argentina and Chile.
In Argentina, people call it Lago General Vintter. This name honors General Lorenzo Vintter. He was an important leader who served as a governor in Patagonia from 1882 to 1884. He also became the first governor of the Territory of the Río Negro from 1884 to 1888.
In Chile, the lake is known as Lago Palena. Both names are accepted around the world.
Where the Palena River Starts
The Palena River begins its journey right at Vintter Lake. In this area, the river has a local name: Carrenleufú. This name means "Greenriver". Sometimes, people also call it Rio Corcovado in Spanish.
Fishing in the Lake
Vintter Lake is a popular spot for fly fishing. People come here to catch different kinds of trout. The most common types found are brook trout and rainbow trout. These fish are not originally from this lake. They were introduced to the area by people.
