The Virginia Washington Monument is a famous statue of George Washington in Richmond, Virginia. It's a large, old monument built in the 1800s. This monument is found in a public park in Richmond, Virginia. It marks the end of Grace Street. The first stone for the monument was placed in 1850. It was the second statue of Washington on horseback to be shown in the United States. The monument was fully finished in 1869.

A Place in History
On February 22, 1862, an important event happened at the monument. It was the second inauguration for the leaders of the Confederate States of America. Jefferson Davis became President. Alexander H. Stephens became Vice President. This ceremony took place right at the monument.
