In 2020, about 2,682 people lived in Waller. The city is found along U.S. Route 290, which is a major highway. It is about 41 miles (66 km) northwest of downtown Houston.

Waller is located at 30°3′32″N 95°55′35″W. This means it is in the northern part of the United States. Most of the city's buildings are near its old town center. However, new businesses for travelers are opening along U.S. Route 290.
The city covers a total area of about 3.72 square miles (9.64 square kilometers). Only a very small part of this area is water.

The Waller Independent School District serves the city of Waller. An Independent School District is a special type of school district that operates separately from city or county governments.
