Wamac is a city located in the state of Illinois, United States. It is unique because it spreads across three different counties: Washington, Marion, and Clinton. The city's name, Wamac, actually comes from the first letters of these three counties!

In 2020, the city had a population of 985 people. This was a decrease from 1,185 people counted in 2010. Wamac officially became a city on July 25, 1916.

Wamac is mostly found in the northeast part of Washington County and the southwest part of Marion County. A small piece of the city also extends into the southeast corner of Clinton County.

The city of Centralia borders Wamac to its north and east. A major road, U.S. Route 51, runs just east of Wamac. This route goes north into the center of Centralia and south about 38 miles to Du Quoin.

Wamac covers a total area of about 1.43 square miles. Most of this area, about 1.42 square miles, is land. A small part, about 0.01 square miles, is water. A stream called Fulton Branch flows through the southern part of the city. This stream eventually leads to Sewer Creek, which is part of the Crooked Creek system. Crooked Creek then flows west into the Kaskaskia River.
