The Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch is a special lake and nature area. You can find it in Gilbert, Arizona, in the United States. It's located east of Greenfield Road and south of Guadalupe Drive.

The town of Gilbert created this preserve in 1999. Its main goals were to manage water, provide a safe home for wildlife, offer educational programs, and create fun outdoor activities. The Riparian Preserve covers 110 acres, and 70 of those acres are made up of seven water recharge basins. These basins help put water back into the ground.

What Can You Do at the Preserve?

The Riparian Preserve has more than 4.5 miles of trails. These trails lead you through different plant areas and gardens. You can also visit a paleontology dig site, where you might learn about ancient life. There is even an observatory for looking at the stars!

This preserve is home to many different kinds of animals. About 298 species live here! You can find many types of birds, insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and even some mammals. It's a great place to go birdwatching.
