History of Waterloo
Waterloo was first started by Elias Kelsey and John Logan in 1883. Before that, they tried to set up the town twice, but it didn't work out. Back in 1870, the Union Pacific Railroad decided to make a stop in this area.
The name "Waterloo" might come from the famous Battle of Waterloo. Or, it could be named after Kelsey's hometown, Waterloo, New York.
The town was left empty for a short time after a really big flood in 1881. This event is known as The Great Flood of 1881.
