Wayne is a small town located in McClain County, Oklahoma, in the United States. It is part of the larger Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area, which is a big group of cities and towns around Oklahoma City.
In 2020, about 625 people lived in Wayne. This was a small decrease from 2010, when the population was around 688. Wayne is sometimes called part of the "Heart of Oklahoma." It is located south of the cities of Norman and Oklahoma City.

History of Wayne
Wayne got its name from early railroad workers. These workers came from Pennsylvania and named towns in Oklahoma after places they knew back home. Other towns like Paoli, Ardmore, and Wynnewood were also named this way.
The town of Wayne is named after Mad Anthony Wayne. He was a famous general in the United States Army and an important statesman.
On December 13, 2022, a strong tornado hit Wayne. This tornado was an EF2, which means it caused significant damage to the town.

- Kevin Stitt (born 1972) is the 28th Governor of Oklahoma. He went to first grade in Wayne. He even mentioned this in his speech when he became governor on January 14, 2019.
