About Weinert's Location
Weinert is located in the northeastern part of Haskell County. A main road, U.S. Route 277, runs along the western side of the city. This road goes north about 9 miles to Munday and south about 12 miles to Haskell. Haskell is the main town of the county.
The United States Census Bureau says that Weinert covers an area of about 0.5 square miles. All of this area is land.
Weinert's Climate
The weather in Weinert is known for its hot and humid summers. Winters are usually mild to cool. This type of weather is called a humid subtropical climate. On climate maps, it's often marked as Cfa.
Weinert's History
The city of Weinert got its name from Senator Ferdinand C. Weinert. He was a senator from Seguin. The town started in 1906 when the Wichita Valley Railroad was built.
In 1909, a big storm hit the community. The next year, in 1910, a fire destroyed many businesses in one part of the town. By 1940, more than 500 people lived in Weinert. However, the number of people living there started to go down in the years that followed. This happened because of new farming methods and changes in how people traveled.
