Haskell is a city located in the middle of Haskell County, in the state of Texas, United States. It is the main town and county seat of Haskell County. In 2020, about 3,089 people lived in Haskell.

History of Haskell
Haskell was once a popular spot with a natural spring called Willow Pond Springs. In 1879, a man named Thomas F. Tucker decided to settle there. He named the place Rice Springs.
When Haskell County was officially created in 1885, Rice Springs became its main town. It was also renamed Haskell that same year. Thomas F. Tucker became the first judge for the county.
In 1906, a train line called the Texas Central Railroad reached Haskell. This helped the town grow even more. Haskell officially became a city in 1907.
Geography and Location
Haskell is located in a flat area of Texas. The city covers a total area of about 9.3 square kilometers (3.6 square miles), and all of it is land.
Several important roads pass through Haskell:
- U.S. Route 277 goes through the eastern part of the city. It connects Haskell to Wichita Falls (about 98 miles northeast) and Abilene (about 54 miles south).
- U.S. Route 380 runs right through the center of Haskell. It leads east to Denton (about 162 miles) and west to Post (about 107 miles).
- You can also get to Lubbock (about 147 miles northwest) by taking US 380 and then US 84.
Haskell County Courthouse
The Haskell County Courthouse is an important building in the city. It was finished in 1892. A.O. Watson was the person who designed and built it.
Later, in 1930 and 1931, two new sections were added to the sides of the building. This courthouse is one of the oldest ones in the area that is still being used today.
