Wentworth is a small village located in the northeastern part of Newton County, Missouri, in the United States. In 2010, about 151 people lived there. It is part of the larger Joplin area.

A Look Back: Wentworth's History
Wentworth was started in the 1880s. It likely got its name from Wentworth, North Carolina. Many of the first people who settled here came from that place.
In the past, mining was the main job in Wentworth. A post office opened in Wentworth in 1890. Sadly, a tornado destroyed this post office in 2011.
Where is Wentworth?
Wentworth is found along Missouri Route 37. It is about 4.5 miles southeast of Sarcoxie. Sarcoxie is in a nearby county called Jasper County.
Pierce City is also close by. It is about four miles southeast of Wentworth. Pierce City is in Lawrence County.
The United States Census Bureau says that Wentworth covers a total area of 0.18 square miles. All of this area is land.
