History of Wesley, Iowa

Wesley was started on April 13, 1872. It officially became a city on March 26, 1892.

What the 2010 Census Shows

Education in Wesley

The main school district for Wesley is the Algona Community School District.

Before 2015, the Corwith–Wesley Community School District served the area. This district had a school in Wesley. It also operated Corwith–Wesley–Lu Verne High School in Corwith.

In 2009, the Wesley school building closed. The school district sold it to the city government. The city mostly used it for storage. Later, the Lu Verne Community School District became the local district. Since 2015, Lu Verne sent its older students to Algona CSD. These students attended Algona Middle School and Algona High School. In 2023, the Lu Verne CSD officially joined the Algona CSD.
