Wesley Parish Hunt (born November 13, 1981) is an American politician and a former soldier. He has been a U.S. Representative for Texas's 38th congressional district since 2023. He is a member of the Republican Party. A U.S. Representative is someone elected by people in a specific area to speak for them in the U.S. Congress.

Early Life and Education
Hunt was born and grew up in Houston, Texas. His family was involved in the military. After finishing high school at St. John's School, he went to the United States Military Academy, also known as West Point. In 2004, he earned a degree in leadership and management there.
Military Service
After college, Hunt joined the U.S. Army in 2004. He became a pilot and flew Apache helicopters. He served in the Iraq War once and was sent to Saudi Arabia twice to help with diplomatic tasks. He left the army in 2012 with the rank of Captain.
After his military service, he went to Cornell University. He earned three master's degrees: one in business, one in public administration, and another in industrial and labor relations.

Becoming a Representative
2020 Election
In 2020, Wesley Hunt ran for a different district in Texas, the 7th congressional district. He won the Republican primary election with 61% of the votes. However, he lost the main election to the Democrat, Lizzie Fletcher.
2022 Election
After new district maps were drawn, Hunt decided to run in the new Texas's 38th congressional district. This new district was created to be strongly Republican. Hunt won the Republican primary election with over 55% of the votes. He then won the general election on November 8, 2022, defeating the Democratic candidate, Duncan Klussmann, with 63% of the votes.
What He Does in Congress
Since January 2023, Hunt has been serving in the U.S. Congress. He supported Kevin McCarthy to become the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. The Speaker is the leader of the House of Representatives.
Hunt is a member of several important committees in the House:
- The Judiciary Committee, which deals with laws and the justice system.
- The Natural Resources Committee, which looks after public lands and natural resources.
- The Small Business Committee, which helps small businesses. He also leads a part of this committee called the Rural Development, Energy, and Supply Chains Subcommittee.
Hunt has also shown his support for Donald Trump's campaign for president in 2024.
Important Votes
- In 2023, Hunt voted with 47 other Republicans to ask President Joe Biden to remove U.S. troops from Syria within 180 days.
- He was one of 71 Republicans who voted against the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023. This law was about how the government spends money and manages its debt.
Personal Life
When Wesley Hunt first arrived in Congress, his wife, Emily, gave birth to their son, Willie. Willie was born early and needed special care in the hospital. This meant Hunt had to leave the election for Speaker of the House for a short time to be with his family.
Hunt is a Baptist. He has said that his beliefs were shaped by attending Champion Forest Baptist Church.
