West Melbourne is a city in Brevard County, Florida, United States. It was created in 1959. The main reason was to stop the area from becoming part of the nearby city of Melbourne.
Since 2000, West Melbourne has grown a lot. It has had the highest population growth of any city in Brevard County. It is part of the larger Palm Bay–Melbourne–Titusville, Florida area. In 2020, about 25,924 people lived there. This was a big jump from 18,355 people in 2010.

History of West Melbourne
West Melbourne was officially created in 1959. People living there voted to form their own city. This was done to prevent the area from being taken over by the City of Melbourne.
In 1970, about 3,050 people lived in West Melbourne. The city has grown a lot since then.
Since the year 2000, West Melbourne has seen the fastest growth in population compared to other cities in Brevard County.
In 2005, West Melbourne started collecting property taxes for the first time. Before this, the city ran on money from fees only. These taxes help pay for city services and projects.
From 2005 to 2014, a family from West Melbourne had three children who were homeschooled. These children won the state spelling bee championship seven times in total! Each child won two or three times.

West Melbourne is located in Florida. Its exact spot is at 28.077895 degrees north and 80.665326 degrees west.

CR 511 – This road is also known as John Rodes Parkway. It runs next to Interstate 95 but is not a freeway. It connects with U.S. 192 and Ellis Road.
