West Point, also sometimes called Westpoint, is a small community in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, in the United States. It is known as an unincorporated area, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. It is also a census-designated place, which is a special area the government uses for counting people.
In 2020, about 318 people lived in West Point. This community is part of the larger Lafayette Metropolitan Area.

History of West Point
West Point was first planned out in 1833 by a person named Samuel Kiser. It was originally going to be called Middleton. However, the people living there decided to change its name to West Point instead. The local post office in West Point has been open and serving the community since 1836.
Where is West Point Located?
West Point is located in Wayne Township, which is part of Tippecanoe County. You can find it along Indiana State Road 25. The land here is about 673 feet above sea level. Just a little bit south of the town, there's a small stream called Flint Creek. This creek flows west and eventually joins the Wabash River.
In the 1800s, there was a village called Glen Hall just north of West Point. Even though people still live there, today it's usually thought of as part of West Point. Also, people who used to live in the former town of Granville now use West Point addresses.

What People Do in West Point
Most people who live in West Point work outside the main part of the community. Many work in farming or in businesses located in nearby cities like Lafayette and West Lafayette. West Point is also known for having many places where horses are kept and trained, like equestrian centers and horse barns.
Churches in West Point
West Point has one church, which is called West Point United Methodist. There used to be another church, but it closed down in the early 2010s and was turned into a shop that sells old items.
There are also several cemeteries and burial sites in the area. The main one located within the town is called West Point Cemetery.
Community Life in West Point
The community in West Point is becoming more active. Many events happen at West Point Park, which used to be the site of West Point High School. The West Point Volunteer Fire Department is also a big part of community life. Every year, they hold a fish fry event to raise money for new equipment. Halloween is a very special time in West Point. The whole community gets involved in an event called Light Up The Night, where people dress up in costumes, enjoy food, and collect candy.
Education in West Point
Students living in West Point attend schools that are part of the Tippecanoe School Corporation. The old West Point High School, whose sports teams were called the West Point Cadets, joined with other schools in 1956 to form Southwestern High School. Later, in 1972, Southwestern High School became part of McCutcheon High School. Today, younger students go to Mintonye Elementary School and Southwestern Middle School.
