A Look Back at West Union's History
West Union became an official "city" in 1900. Before that, its streets and lots were first planned out in 1881. This planning is called "platting."
A post office served the community for a long time. It opened in 1860 but closed its doors in 1996. West Union also had a train station. It was part of the Great Northern Railway.
