A Look Back at Westphalia
Westphalia was officially planned and mapped out in 1880. This happened when the railroad tracks were extended to reach that area. Many of the first people to build homes and businesses there were from Germany.
An important event in weather history happened in Westphalia. On April 26, 1884, the very first photograph of a tornado was taken here. The city's first post office opened its doors in June 1880, helping people send and receive mail.
