Wethersfield is a small town in Wyoming County, New York. It is located in the middle of the county. In 2000, about 891 people lived there.

History of Wethersfield

The town of Wethersfield was created in 1823. It was formed from a part of the Town of Orangeville. The town got its name from settlers who came from Wethersfield, Connecticut.

Geography of Wethersfield

Wethersfield covers a total area of about 36.1 square miles (93.5 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 35.8 square miles (92.7 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 0.3 square miles (0.8 square kilometers), is water.

The town is home to 35 large wind turbines. These turbines are from General Electric and sit on top of a hill. They are about 2060 feet (628 meters) above sea level. You can see them from several roads, including NY Route 78.
