History of Wheatland

Wheatland was officially planned and marked out in 1869. This process is called "platting." The town was likely named after the home of James Buchanan. He was the fifteenth President of the United States. His home was called Wheatland and was located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. President Buchanan passed away in 1868.
