William Nils Erich Petzäll (born August 26, 1988 – died September 1, 2012) was a Swedish politician. He was a member of the Sweden Democrats political party. He also served as the Chairman of the Sweden Democratic Youth.
In 2010, William Petzäll was chosen to represent Dalarna County in the Riksdag. The Riksdag is the national parliament of Sweden. He was a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Sweden Democrats.
In 2011, William Petzäll decided to leave the Sweden Democrats party. Before leaving, he worked as a press secretary. He also led the party's work on immigration policy.
William Petzäll's Political Journey
William Petzäll was born in Filipstad, a town in Värmland, Sweden. He became involved in politics at a young age. He was active in both the Sweden Democratic Youth (SDU) and the Sweden Democrats party.
Early Political Work in Borås
From 2006 to 2010, William Petzäll was a member of the municipal assembly in Borås. A municipal assembly is like a local city council. It makes decisions for the local area.
During a trip in 2009, William Petzäll and other SDU members were recorded. They were singing songs that some people found controversial. He later said they were singing the songs in a joking way.
Serving Dalarna in Parliament
In 2010, the Sweden Democrats party won enough votes to enter the Riksdag. This was during the 2010 Swedish general election. William Petzäll took a seat in parliament for the area of Dalarna.
Later that same year, on November 20, 2010, William Petzäll was elected. He became the chairman of the Sweden Democratic Youth. This is the youth organization connected to the Sweden Democrats party.
