The Williamstown CDP is found in the northeastern part of the town of Williamstown. It is located at coordinates 42°42′34″N 73°11′50″W / 42.70944°N 73.19722°W.
Key Landmarks and Roads
Williams College is a big part of the center of the CDP. Important roads meet near the college. U.S. Route 7 and Massachusetts Route 2 cross paths here. Route 2 goes east through the CDP as Main Street. It then becomes the Mohawk Trail as it heads towards North Adams. Route 7 goes north towards Vermont. Both highways also go south as Cold Spring Road.
Rivers and Waterways
The CDP covers about 8.9 square kilometers (3.4 square miles). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water. The Hoosic River flows along the northern edge of the CDP. The Green River also flows into the Hoosic River from the south. The Hoosic River is a tributary of the Hudson River.

In 2000, there were 4,754 people living in the CDP. There were 1,368 households, which are groups of people living together. About 715 of these were families. The population density was about 536 people per square kilometer.
