Willow River (Kettle River tributary) facts for kids
The Willow River is a river in eastern Minnesota, United States. It is about 31.4 miles (50.5 kilometers) long. This river is a tributary of the Kettle River. The Willow River is one of three rivers in Minnesota that share this name. Through the Kettle and St. Croix rivers, its waters eventually flow into the mighty Mississippi River. This means it is part of the huge watershed of the Mississippi.

Where the Willow River Flows
The Willow River flows entirely within northern Pine County. It starts in the Nemadji State Forest in Nickerson Township. From there, it generally flows west.

As it travels, the Willow River passes through several townships:

It also flows past the small community of Duquette.
The Little Willow River
In Windemere Township, the Willow River meets its own smaller branch, called the Little Willow River. The Little Willow River begins near the town of Kerrick. It flows for about 9.7 miles (15.6 kilometers) through Bruno and Norman townships before joining the main Willow River.
