Duquette is a small, quiet community in Pine County, Minnesota, in the United States. It's not a city or a town with its own government, but rather an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that are part of a larger county or township. Duquette is located right next to the Willow River.
You can find Duquette along State Highway 23, which is a main road through the area. The beautiful Nemadji State Forest is also very close by, offering lots of nature to explore.
Duquette sits right on the border between two areas called Kerrick Township and Nickerson Township. Other nearby communities include Nickerson, Kerrick, and Holyoke.
The community of Duquette was named after Frank Duquette. He was once the head postmaster at the Moose Lake post office. Later, he started his own post office right here in Duquette.

Life in Duquette
Duquette is an unincorporated community located in the northern part of Pine County. It's a peaceful place with a few interesting spots.
Local Attractions and Activities
Near Duquette, you'll find the Duquette Airport. This is a private airport with a grass airstrip that is about a quarter-mile long.
Duquette is also home to Jackie Berger Park. This park offers many fun things to do outdoors. You can find campsites there if you want to stay overnight. There's also a ballfield for sports, a pavilion for gatherings, and a tennis court. The Willow River runs by the park, making it a great spot for fishing.
The park was named after a young man from the area. He was a brave soldier who passed away during a very important historical event in 1944. Next to the park, there's a special parking area. This area is used by people who enjoy riding snowmobiles, off-road motorcycles, or ATVs.
A Look Back at Duquette's Past
Duquette is located along the BNSF Railway, which was once part of the Great Northern Railway. This area was originally an old Native American village site. It was at the end of a path called the Willow–Nemadji Portage, which was used for carrying canoes and goods between rivers.
The first European settlers in Duquette were French Canadians. One of these settlers was a businessman named Frank Duquette. He built a sawmill and a store, helping the community grow.
How Duquette Got Its Name
The village was first called Kerrick. However, the train station for the Great Northern Railway was moved three miles south. The new station kept the name Kerrick. For a while, Duquette was known as Old Kerrick, and the new site was called New Kerrick. These names were officially changed when the Duquette post office was opened in 1905. That's when the community officially became known as Duquette.
