Wintersville is a small village located in the middle of Jefferson County, Ohio, in the United States. It is a suburban area, meaning it's a community near a larger city.
As of the 2020 Census, about 3,609 people lived there. Wintersville is part of the larger Weirton–Steubenville metropolitan area. The village is run by a Mayor and a council. These leaders are chosen by the people in elections.

History of Wintersville
The first group of people settled in Wintersville in the year 1831. The village got its name from its founder, a man named John Winters. A post office, where people could send and receive mail, was opened in Wintersville in 1831. It stayed open for many years, until 1901.
Wintersville During the Civil War
During the American Civil War, a famous event called Morgan's Raid happened in 1863. A general from the Confederate army, John Hunt Morgan, traveled through many towns in Ohio. Wintersville was one of these towns. His journey ended with a defeat for the Confederates at the Battle of Salineville. This was a victory for the Union side.

Wintersville covers a total area of about 3.12 square miles (8.09 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water inside the village limits.

Wintersville has a good system of roads and highways. It is also well-connected to different types of transportation. The village is about 30 miles from the Greater Pittsburgh International Airport. It is also 20 miles from the Wheeling-Ohio County Airport. The Jefferson County Airport is right next to the southern edge of Wintersville. For moving goods, river and rail transportation are available along the nearby Ohio River.
