Woodsfield is a small village in Ohio, United States. It is the main town, or county seat, of Monroe County, Ohio. Woodsfield is about 30 miles northeast of Marietta. In 2020, about 2,210 people lived here.

History of Woodsfield
Woodsfield was started in 1813. It became the main town for the new Monroe County. The village was named after a person called Archibald Woods. Woodsfield officially became a village in 1835.

Woodsfield covers an area of about 2.02 square miles (5.22 square kilometers). All of this area is land. There are no large bodies of water within the village limits.

A census is a count of people. In 2010, there were 2,384 people living in Woodsfield. They lived in 1,054 homes. About 617 of these were families.

Local Economy and Jobs
Woodsfield's economy faced some challenges in the past. In 2004, a large company called Ormet Corporation had a worker strike. This affected jobs in the area.
Later, in 2006, a plant in nearby Hannibal closed down. This was another tough time for local workers. The plant did reopen by the end of 2006. However, it did not hire as many people as before.

The schools in Woodsfield are part of the Switzerland of Ohio Local School District. This is the largest school district in Ohio by land size.
