The World Cup of Crisps is a fun, unofficial competition held every four years in the United Kingdom. It takes place on the social media site Twitter. People vote to decide the UK's favourite type and flavour of crisps. A TV host named Richard Osman created and runs the competition. The first one happened in early 2012.

How the Competition Works
Richard Osman first thought of the World Cup of Crisps in January 2012. The very first competition had 32 different types of crisps. They were put into groups, and the best crisps from each group moved on. After the group stage, it became a knockout competition. This means if a crisp lost a vote, it was out! People voted on Twitter using the hashtag '#wcocr'.
The second competition was even bigger, with 48 types of crisps. It had three group stages before the semi-finals and the final. For this competition, people voted using Twitter's new poll feature. This made it easier to see the results.
