History of Wyssachen
Wyssachen was first mentioned in old records way back in 1349. For a long time, it was known as Wyssachengraben. This name was used until 1908.
For most of its early history, Wyssachen was connected to the nearby town of Eriswil. It was part of Eriswil's church area, called a parish. In 1516, Eriswil became part of the Bern region.
Over time, Wyssachen started to manage its own affairs. By 1755, it was helping its own local people who needed support. This independence grew, and in 1847, Wyssachen officially became its own separate town. A church was built in Wyssachen in 1946. Twenty years later, it became the main church for the Wyssachen parish.
