Xavier Oyekola Adibi (born October 18, 1984) is an American football coach and a former player. He is currently an associate linebackers coach at Virginia Tech. Before that, he was a defensive coordinator at Texas A&M University–Commerce.
Xavier played college football at Virginia Tech. He was chosen by the Houston Texans in the 2008 NFL draft. He played professionally as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Texans (2008–2010), Minnesota Vikings (2011), Chicago Bears (2012), and Tennessee Titans (2012). In 2021, he was honored by being inducted into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame.

Early Life and High School Football
Xavier Adibi grew up in Hampton, Virginia. He went to Phoebus High School and graduated in 2003. He was a star player on the high school football team.
He helped his team, the Phantoms, win their very first state championship. In his senior year, the Phantoms had a perfect season. They won their second state championship in a row. In the 2002 state football game, Xavier played fullback. He ran for 155 yards and scored four touchdowns!
After high school, Xavier was chosen to play in the 2003 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. This is a special game for the best high school football players in the country.
College Football Career
Xavier Adibi played college football for Virginia Tech. He was a very important player for their defense. In 2007, he was named a first-team All-American. He also earned first-team All-ACC honors that year. The year before, in 2006, he was a second-team All-ACC player.
In 2004, as a freshman, Xavier got injured in the first game. But he came back strong later that season. In a game against Georgia Tech, he made eight tackles. He also had two sacks. One of his sacks was very important. It helped Virginia Tech win a close game.
By the 2005 season, Xavier became a starting inside linebacker. In 2006, he was second on his team in tackles with 82. He also forced a fumble in a game against Virginia. This play helped his team score the winning touchdown. In 2007, Xavier led the Hokies with 115 tackles and had two Interceptions.
Playing in the NFL
The Houston Texans picked Xavier Adibi in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL draft. He played for the Texans for three seasons.
Later, he played for other NFL teams. In 2011, he joined the Minnesota Vikings. In 2012, he briefly played for the Chicago Bears. After that, he signed with the Tennessee Titans in October 2012.
Coaching Career
After his playing career, Xavier Adibi became a football coach. He started coaching at the college level.
Coaching at Texas A&M-Commerce
Xavier became the defensive coordinator at Texas A&M-Commerce. He worked there from 2019 to 2021. As a defensive coordinator, he was in charge of the team's defense.
Returning to Virginia Tech
In January 2022, Xavier Adibi returned to his old college team, Virginia Tech. He joined the coaching staff as a defensive analyst. This means he helped the coaches study opponents and plan defensive strategies. In 2024, he became the associate linebackers coach at Virginia Tech.
Family Life
Xavier Adibi comes from a family of athletes. His older brother, Nathaniel Adibi, also played football for the Virginia Tech Hokies. Their father, Abiodun Adibi, played college soccer at Oklahoma State. He is also a professor at Hampton University.
