Xavier Henry (born March 15, 1991) is an American former professional basketball player. He played one year of college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks. After that, he was chosen by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2010 NBA draft. He played in the NBA for four and a half seasons. He finished his basketball career in 2017 after playing two seasons in the NBA G League.

Early Life and Basketball Beginnings
Xavier Henry was born in Ghent, Belgium. His father was also a professional basketball player. He played in Belgium during the early 1990s.
High School Basketball Journey
Henry went to Putnam City High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He missed the start of his senior year. This was because he had an injury to his cheekbone.
On March 14, 2009, he led his team to victory. Putnam City won the Oklahoma Class 6A state championship. Henry scored 24 points in that important game.
High School Achievements
Henry was chosen for the 2009 McDonald's All-American Boys Game. He scored 14 points in this special game. He also played in the 2009 Nike Hoop Summit. There, he led Team USA with 22 points. This included six 3-pointers. He also played in the Jordan Brand Classic.
Choosing a College Team
By the end of high school, Henry was a top basketball player. Many colleges wanted him to play for them. He was ranked as one of the best shooting guards in the country.
He first decided to play for Memphis. He wanted to play with his brother, C. J. However, the Memphis coach, John Calipari, left for Kentucky. This made Henry think about his choice again.
On April 23, 2009, Henry announced he would play for Kansas. He said he always wanted to go to Kansas. His family had played there before.
I grew up always wanting to go to Kansas. I switched to Memphis because my brother was going there.
Now, with coach (John Calipari) leaving (for Kentucky), we've decided to go to KU. I'm really excited. That's where my whole family played.
College Basketball Career

Xavier Henry had an amazing first college game. He scored 27 points. This broke the record for most points by a freshman in their first game for Kansas.
On December 12, 2009, Henry scored 31 points against La Salle. He was the first Kansas freshman to score 30 points in a game since Paul Pierce. His 31 points were close to the freshman record set by Danny Manning.

Professional Basketball Journey
On April 7, 2010, Henry decided to leave college early. He entered the 2010 NBA draft. He was expected to be chosen in the first round. On June 24, the Memphis Grizzlies picked him as the 12th overall player.
Playing for NBA Teams
- Memphis Grizzlies (2010–2012): Henry started his NBA career with the Grizzlies.
- New Orleans Hornets (2012–2013): In January 2012, Henry joined the New Orleans Hornets in a trade. He also spent some time playing for the Iowa Energy in the NBA G League. The G League is like a minor league for the NBA.
- Los Angeles Lakers (2013–2014): Henry signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in September 2013. In his first game with the Lakers, he scored a career-high 22 points. He helped them win against the Los Angeles Clippers. During his time with the Lakers, he had some injuries. He had surgery on his wrist and knee. Later, he suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury during practice. This injury ended his season.
- Santa Cruz Warriors (2015–2016): After leaving the Lakers, Henry signed with the Golden State Warriors. He then played for their G League team, the Santa Cruz Warriors.
- Oklahoma City Blue (2016–2017): In 2016, Henry signed with the Milwaukee Bucks but was later waived. He then joined the Oklahoma City Blue, another NBA G League team. He finished his professional career there.
