History of Yakutia Airlines

How the Airline Started

Yakutia Airlines began as Sakha Avia. This was once the Yakutsk part of a very old airline called Aeroflot. It was also known as Yakutaviatrans before that.

In its early days, the airline flew cargo planes. They carried goods to places in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. The airline faced some money problems in 1999. But it started flying again in 2000.

Becoming Yakutia Air Company

The local government took control of the airline. In 2002, Sakha Avia joined with another airline called Yakutavia. After they merged, they changed their name. That is how they became "Yakutia Air Company."
