Yuki Chiba, born on April 22, 1990, is a famous Japanese rapper, singer, and songwriter. He used to be known by his stage name, KOHH.

Early Life

Yuki Chiba was born in Oji, a part of Tokyo, Japan. He grew up with his younger brother, who is also a rapper named Lil KOHH. Their mother raised them.

Yuki Chiba started making music when he was 18 years old. He created many mixtapes, which are collections of songs. Later, he met a producer named 318. Together, they began releasing music with a label called GUNSMITH PRODUCTION.

Chiba became well-known in Japan's underground music scene. This happened when he helped produce his brother Lil KOHH's song, "Young Forever." The music video for this song became very popular online.

First Albums

In 2014, Chiba released his second main album, MONOCHROME. It was quite successful. A song from the album, "I don't mind if I'm poor," became a big hit on YouTube.

In 2015, Chiba, then known as KOHH, worked with Japanese artist Loota. They teamed up with Keith Ape on a song called "It G Ma." This song became a huge hit in Japan and South Korea. It also got attention from people all over the world.

After that, Chiba released his first album, Gardenia, which had been delayed. He then worked on his next album, DIRT. DIRT came out on October 28 and was also released internationally on iTunes. Chiba also appeared on a song called "BUCHIAGARI" by Japanese DJ RYOW.

Big Collaborations

In 2016, Chiba worked with American singer Frank Ocean. He was featured on the song "Nikes," which was part of Frank Ocean's album Blonde. Chiba also appeared in a new song by famous Japanese-American singer Hikaru Utada. The song was called "Bōkyaku" and was on her album Fantôme.

In 2018, Chiba was featured on a special bonus song for Mariah Carey's album Caution. The song, "Runway," was only available on the Japanese iTunes version.

His fifth studio album, Untitled, was released in 2019 by Nippon Columbia.

New Name and Return

In 2021, Chiba decided to stop using the name KOHH. He chose to go by his birth name, Yuki Chiba. He later said in 2024 that he would no longer perform songs from his KOHH era.

Yuki Chiba took a break from music for three years. He returned on February 12, 2024. He uploaded a music video for his song "Team Tomodachi" (チーム友達), which quickly became very popular. Many other artists have made their own versions of "Team Tomodachi."

In 2024, Chiba was featured on a song called "Mamushi" by American rapper Megan Thee Stallion. This song also became very popular online. It was Chiba's first song to appear on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, reaching number 68. He performed the song with Megan Thee Stallion at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. This was his first time performing on US television.

In November 2024, American actor and artist Will Smith released his own remix of "Team Tomodachi." This was one of the biggest Western artists to work on the song. Will Smith shared the remix with his millions of followers on Instagram.
