Vas Coleman (born May 25, 1999), known as Yung Bans, is a rapper from the United States. He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. He became well-known for his song "Lonely" released in 2017. This song featured Lil Skies and earned a "gold" award, meaning it sold many copies.
Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Vas Coleman was born in St. Louis, Missouri. When he was in seventh grade, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia. He went to Langston Hughes High School and also to Virgil I. Grissom High School in Huntsville, Alabama.
Coleman started rapping when he was in sixth grade. Back then, he used the name Ban Boy. He later decided to make music his career during high school. Some of the artists who inspired him include Lil Wayne, Chief Keef, and Tyler, the Creator.
Music Career Highlights
Yung Bans released his first song, "4Tspoon," on May 21, 2015. He made this song with another rapper, Playboi Carti. Later that year, in November, he worked with Ski Mask the Slump God on a song called "ILOVEITWHENTHEYRUN."
In 2016, Coleman was featured on Smokepurpp's song "Damage." He also released his own song, "Right Through You," on December 22, 2016.
Yung Bans gained more attention in December 2017. He released his first two extended plays (EPs) around this time. These were titled Yung Bans and Yung Bans Vol. 2. An EP is like a mini-album with fewer songs.
