Zhang Zetian (Chinese: 章泽天; born on November 18, 1993) is a successful Chinese businesswoman and investor. She is the chief fashion adviser for the luxury business of JD.com, a very large online shopping company. She first became famous because of a photo of her holding milk tea, which led to her nickname "Sister Milk Tea." She later married Liu Qiangdong, who founded JD.com. Zhang Zetian has invested in many companies and is considered one of China's youngest female billionaires.
How Zhang Zetian Became Famous
Zhang Zetian first became well-known when a picture of her holding a cup of milk tea spread quickly on the internet. This made her very popular and earned her the nickname "Sister Milk Tea" (Chinese: 奶茶妹妹; pinyin: nǎichá mèimei).
She later appeared in a video that promoted the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing. She was even offered a role in a movie called The Flowers of War by a famous director, Zhang Yimou, but she decided not to take it.
Her Education and Family Life
Zhang Zetian studied at Tsinghua University in China. While she was studying abroad at Barnard College in the United States, she met Liu Qiangdong. They got married in Sydney in 2015. At the time, she was 22 years old, and he was 41. In March 2016, Zhang Zetian and Liu Qiangdong welcomed their daughter.
She continued her education and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Cambridge Judge Business School. She was also a student at King's College, Cambridge.
Smart Investments and Business
In May 2017, a magazine called New Fortune published a list of the 500 richest people in China. Zhang Zetian was the youngest woman on that list.
Zhang Zetian and her husband, Liu Qiangdong, have made several smart investments together.
