Zou Kai (Chinese: 邹凯; pinyin: Zōu Kǎi) is a famous Chinese gymnast. He was born on February 25, 1988, in Luzhou, Sichuan. Zou Kai is known for his amazing skills on the floor exercise and the horizontal bar. He has won many medals, including five Olympic gold medals and five World Championship titles.
Zou Kai first became a big star at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he won three gold medals. This led to him being nominated for a special sports award in 2009. He then won two more gold medals at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
As of 2024, Zou Kai is one of the most successful Chinese athletes in Olympic history. His five gold medals and one bronze medal tie him for the second-highest number of Olympic gold medals won by any Chinese athlete. He is also tied for the third-highest number of total medals won by a Chinese athlete.

Zou Kai's Amazing Gymnastics Career
Early Wins and World Championships
Zou Kai started his international career at the 2006 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Aarhus. He helped the Chinese team win a gold medal. He also finished sixth in the individual floor exercise final.
At the 2007 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart, Zou Kai and his team won gold again. He also placed sixth on the floor exercise, just like the year before.
First Big Competitions
Before his Olympic debut, Zou Kai also competed in the 2006 Asian Games in Doha. There, he won a gold medal with the Chinese team. He also earned an individual gold medal in the floor exercise and a silver medal on the horizontal bar.
Olympic Glory in Beijing and London
Beijing 2008: Three Gold Medals
Zou Kai made his first appearance at the Olympic Games during the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. It was an incredible start! He helped his team win a gold medal. He also surprised everyone by winning two individual gold medals. These were for the floor exercise and the horizontal bar.
He was the second Chinese Olympian ever to win three gold medals at one Olympic Games. The first was Li Ning in 1984. Zou Kai was the most successful Chinese athlete at the Beijing Olympics, winning the most gold medals.
London 2012: More Gold and Records
At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Zou Kai continued his winning streak. He led the Chinese team to another gold medal. He then successfully defended his Olympic title in the floor exercise, winning gold again! He was only the second gymnast to win the men's floor exercise twice in a row.
He tried to defend his horizontal bar title but won a bronze medal instead. Even with the bronze, Zou Kai set a new record. With five Olympic gold medals, he holds the record for the most golds won by any Chinese athlete in Olympic history. Adding his bronze medal, he tied the record for the most total medals, with six.
Asian Games Success
Zou Kai also competed in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon. He had a great performance, winning two individual gold medals. These were for the floor exercise and the horizontal bar. He also helped the Chinese team win a bronze medal.
Helping Others: Zou Kai's Kindness
Zou Kai is from Sichuan, China. In 2008, after a big earthquake hit his home province, he decided to help. He auctioned off one of his Olympic gold medals from the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He donated all the money he raised to help with relief efforts for the earthquake. He chose the medal he won for his floor exercise routine because it was very special to him. Only two other Chinese gymnasts had ever won that specific medal before him.
