Zumbrota is a city located in Goodhue County, Minnesota, United States. It sits along the North Fork of the Zumbro River. In 2020, about 3,726 people lived there. Zumbrota is special because it calls itself "the only Zumbrota in the world."

Discover Zumbrota's Past
Zumbrota was first claimed as a town in 1856. This happened thanks to two people, Joseph Bailey and D.B. Goddard. The city's name, Zumbrota, comes from a mix of words. It combines a French name for the local Zumbro River, Rivière des Embarras (meaning "Obstruction River"), with the Dakota word toŋ, which means "village."
The Famous Covered Bridge
Zumbrota is home to the Zumbrota Covered Bridge. This is the last working covered bridge in all of Minnesota. It was first built in 1869, just one year before railroads arrived in the area. This historic bridge is so important that it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Minnesota's First Public Library
The Zumbrota Public Library holds a special place in history. It was the very first library in Minnesota to be supported by taxes. This means it was funded by the community for everyone to use.
Celebrating Zumbrota's Milestones
The city of Zumbrota celebrated its 150th birthday in 2006. This big event is called a sesquicentennial.

Zumbrota has several churches for different faiths. Christ Lutheran Church is part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). United Redeemer Lutheran Church and Land's Lutheran Church are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). You can also find St. Paul's Catholic Church and First Congregational United Church of Christ (UCC) in the city.
Learning and Schools in Zumbrota
The local high school, Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School, was formed in 1987. This happened when the Zumbrota and Mazeppa school districts joined together. The primary, middle, and high schools are all located in Zumbrota. The elementary school is in Mazeppa.
There is also a Christian elementary school called Christ Lutheran School. It teaches students from Pre-K through 8th grade.

Zumbrota's Covered Bridge Park is a great place for outdoor activities. It has:
