2014 FIFA World Cup Group B facts for kids
Group B was one of the groups in the exciting 2014 FIFA World Cup! It featured four strong teams: Spain, the Netherlands, Chile, and Australia.
This group was extra special because it included the two teams who played in the final match of the previous World Cup in 2010: Spain, who were the champions, and the Netherlands, who came in second.
The games for Group B took place from June 13 to June 23, 2014. After some thrilling matches, the Netherlands and Chile earned enough points to move on to the next round, called the knockout stage. Sadly, Australia and Spain were eliminated from the tournament after losing their first two games.
Later in the competition, Chile was knocked out by Brazil after a penalty shootout. The Netherlands kept going all the way to the semi-finals, where they also lost in a penalty shootout to Argentina. But they didn't go home empty-handed! The Netherlands won the third-place match with a big 3–0 victory against Brazil.
