What's the Story About?
Calvin Fuller is a regular kid from Los Angeles. He loves baseball but isn't very good at it. One day, during a game, an earthquake hits! The ground opens up, and Calvin falls through.
He lands right on top of a black knight in the 6th century! The elderly King Arthur believes Calvin is a special hero. The wizard Merlin had predicted his arrival. King Arthur welcomes Calvin to his court and calls him "Calvin of Reseda."
Calvin's New Life in Camelot
Calvin starts training to be a knight. Sir Kane, Arthur's best knight, teaches him. Calvin brought his knapsack with him when he fell. This helps him amaze the people of Camelot with his "magic."
He shows them a CD player and introduces them to rock and roll. He also has a Swiss Army knife. Calvin even teaches them how to make inline roller skates. Everyone thinks he's a great wizard!
Trouble in the Kingdom
Calvin becomes very popular. But this makes Lord Belasco jealous. Belasco wants to take over the throne from King Arthur. He will do anything to get it.
Meanwhile, Calvin spends time with Princess Katey and starts to like her. Katey's older sister, Princess Sarah, secretly loves Sir Kane.
Belasco moves forward with his evil plan. He kidnaps Katey. He tries to make it look like Calvin committed a crime. Belasco also tells Sarah that if she doesn't marry him, Katey will die.
Saving the Princess
Just as Belasco is about to arrest Calvin, Sarah helps him escape. She tells him Katey is alive. Calvin must find her father, King Arthur, and show him the truth.
Calvin tells Arthur about Belasco's plan. Arthur pretends to help Belasco but secretly helps Calvin escape. They disguise themselves to rescue Katey. Calvin tells Arthur that Belasco has been stealing from the people. He also says the people think Arthur doesn't care. Arthur promises to be a better king.
Calvin and Arthur find the castle where Katey is held. During the fight, Calvin gives Arthur Excalibur, the legendary sword. Merlin had given it to Calvin. This helps Arthur fight with new strength.
They free Katey, but Belasco's helper, Richard, grabs her again. He holds her hostage over a moat. Calvin uses a laser pointer from his CD player to blind Richard. Richard falls, and Katey is safe!
Arthur makes Calvin a Knight of the Round Table. They return to Camelot to stop Belasco from forcing Sarah to marry him.
The Tournament and the Truth
To defeat Belasco for good, Arthur holds a jousting tournament. The winner will marry Sarah. Sir Kane defeats all his opponents. Only he and Lord Belasco are left for the final match.
Belasco cheats! He uses a special crystal to shine sunlight into Kane's eyes. Kane is almost knocked out. Calvin asks the King to stall Belasco. Belasco is about to claim victory, but Kane returns for another joust.
Belasco knocks Kane's helmet off. But the knight keeps jousting without a head! He knocks Belasco off his horse and wins! It turns out it wasn't Kane, but Calvin inside the armor!
Belasco pulls Calvin off the horse and tries to hurt him. But the black knight Calvin met earlier appears! He saves Calvin. Calvin gives his victory to the black knight. Everyone is surprised when the knight takes off their helmet. It's Sarah!
King Arthur is amazed and happy. He lets Sarah choose who she wants to marry. She proudly chooses Sir Kane. Belasco is banished from Camelot forever.
Back to the Future
Now that Calvin has helped Arthur, Merlin sends him home. Calvin says goodbye to King Arthur and Katey. He returns to the 20th century. He arrives just before he was about to strike out in his baseball game.
This time, Calvin is ready! He steps up to the plate and hits a home run! His teammates cheer for him. A girl who looks like Katey greets him. A man who looks like Arthur watches him. The man is carving wood with a pocketknife – the same knife Calvin gave to King Arthur!
