Absolute Genius with Dick and Dom is a super fun British TV show. It airs on CBBC. The show is hosted by the awesome duo, Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood, better known as Dick and Dom.
In each episode, Dick and Dom dive into the amazing work of a "genius." They explore their brilliant ideas. Then, they try to bring one of these ideas to life. Sometimes, they even add cool modern technology. They get help from Fran Scott, a science expert, and other specialists.
The BBC created this series to get young people excited about science. It followed the success of Professor Brian Cox. He made science cool for teenagers. Dick and Dom were chosen to present because they are perfect for this age group.
In November 2014, Dick and Dom won a big award! They received the 2014 Children's Presenter BAFTA Award. This was for the second series of their show. In summer 2014, CBBC decided to make a third and fourth series. Then, in June 2016, filming began for series 5. Fran Scott shared this exciting news on her Twitter page.

What Each Series Explored
The show changed its focus a bit over the years. Each series looked at different types of "genius."
Series 1 and 2: Science Geniuses
The first two series were all about science. Dick and Dom explored the lives of famous scientists and inventors. They learned about their amazing discoveries.
- Series 1 (2013): They studied people like Archimedes, who was a brilliant ancient Greek inventor. They also looked at Isaac Newton, famous for gravity, and Leonardo da Vinci, a genius artist and inventor.
- Series 2 (2014): This series continued with more science heroes. They explored the work of the Wright brothers, who invented the airplane. They also learned about Marie Curie, a pioneer in radioactivity, and Alan Turing, a computer science genius.
Series 3: Appsolute Genius (Gaming)
In Series 3, the show got a new name: Appsolute Genius with Dick & Dom. This time, they focused on the world of apps and computer games. They explored how games are made. At the end of each episode, they tried to create their own real-life game. A YouTube star named Joseph Garrett narrated this part.
- They looked at how characters are made, like those by Toru Iwatani (who created Pac-Man).
- They also explored how stories are built in games.
- The series even had a competition for viewers to design a new app. The winning idea became a game called 'Escargot Escape Artistes' on the CBBC website.
Series 4: Super Tech
Series 4 was called Absolute Genius Super Tech with Dick & Dom. Here, Dick and Dom explored incredible technology from all over the world. This included tech that saves lives, everyday gadgets, and even space technology. They tried to build their own super tech to complete challenges.
- They explored "Space Tech," learning about pioneers like Sergei Korolev in space travel.
- They also looked at "Robots," meeting some amazing machines and even building their own.
Series 5: Monster Builds
The fifth series launched with a new name: Absolute Genius Monster Builds. In this series, Dick and Dom, along with Fran Scott, investigated huge construction projects. They learned about the incredible engineering behind them.
- They explored "Deep Underground" builds, looking at tunnels and mining.
- They also investigated "Epic Bridges" and how they are constructed.
