About Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak
Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak was born in 1968 in a city called Aden in Yemen. He has three children. His father was a businessman.
He studied business administration at Baghdad University and earned a PhD. He is now a professor at Sana'a University. There, he leads the business administration center. This center works with the Maastricht School of Management (MSM). Dr. Mubarak also teaches in a special MBA program run by both universities.
Before his political roles, he worked as a consultant for many international projects in Yemen. These projects focused on education, jobs, and helping communities grow. He also helped lead training sessions and workshops for groups in Yemen and other countries. These countries included Bahrain, Ethiopia, and Germany.
From 2007 to 2009, he worked at the Science and Technology University in Sanaa. He was in charge of different departments, like administrative information technology. He also managed quality and development for the university.
His Work in Politics
In March 2013, Bin Mubarak was chosen to be the secretary general of a big meeting. This meeting was called the National Dialogue Conference. It brought together people from all political parties and groups in Yemen. Their goal was to talk about how to make important changes in the country. The conference finished in January 2014. After that, he became the director of the president's office.
In 2014, there were protests in Yemen's capital, Sana'a. The Houthi group, who are from the north of Yemen, took control of some government areas. This led to the Prime Minister at the time, Mohammed Basindwa, stepping down. President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi then chose Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak to be the new Prime Minister. However, the Houthi group did not agree with this choice. Because of this, Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak decided to step down from the role on October 9, 2014.
On January 17, 2015, Bin Mubarak was taken by gunmen in Sana'a. These gunmen were thought to be loyal to a former president. A few days later, officials from the Houthi group and the government made a deal. This deal was supposed to end the conflict in the capital and include Bin Mubarak's release. However, the agreement quickly fell apart. He was released on January 27, ten days after he was taken.
Later, on August 3, 2015, he was chosen to be Yemen's Ambassador to the United States. In 2018, he also became the ambassador to the United Nations.
Becoming Prime Minister

On February 5, 2024, the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council appointed Bin Mubarak as Prime Minister. He took over from Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed. He resigned from this position on May 3, 2025. He stated that he could not make the important decisions needed to improve the government and change the Cabinet.
