Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak is an important politician from Yemen. He became the Prime Minister of Yemen on February 5, 2024. Before this, he was Yemen's Foreign Minister. He also served as Yemen's Ambassador to the United States.
Early Life and Education
Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak was born in 1968 in Aden, Yemen. He has three children. His father was a businessman.
He earned a PhD in business administration from Baghdad University. He is also a professor at Sana'a University. There, he leads the business administration center. This center works with the Maastricht School of Management. Dr. Mubarak teaches in their joint MBA program.
Before his political career, he worked as a consultant. He helped with many international projects in Yemen. These projects focused on education, jobs, and development. He also helped lead training sessions in several countries.
Political Career
In March 2013, Bin Mubarak was chosen for an important role. He became the secretary general of a national conference. This meeting included representatives from all political parties. Its goal was to make reforms in Yemen. The conference ended in January 2014. After that, he worked as the director of the president's office.
Yemen faced a lot of unrest around 2014. The Houthi group protested in the capital city, Sana'a. They took control of some government areas. Because of this, the Prime Minister at the time resigned. President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi then appointed Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak as Prime Minister. However, he stepped down from this role in October 2014.
In January 2015, Bin Mubarak was taken by gunmen in Sana'a. He was released ten days later.
Later, in August 2015, he became Yemen's Ambassador to the United States. In 2018, he also became the ambassador to the United Nations.

On February 5, 2024, Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak was appointed Prime Minister of Yemen. He was chosen by the Presidential Leadership Council. He took over from the previous Prime Minister, Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed.
