Airheads is a funny movie from 1994. It's a comedy film about a rock band. The movie was written by Rich Wilkes and directed by Michael Lehmann.

It stars famous actors like Brendan Fraser, Steve Buscemi, and Adam Sandler. The story is about a band that tries to get their music played on the radio. They go to a radio station and cause a big stir to make sure their songs are heard.

Story of the Film

The movie follows a hard rock band called "The Lone Rangers." The band members are Chazz, Rex, and Pip. They live in Los Angeles and dream of becoming famous. They keep trying to get their music heard by record producers, but no one seems interested.

Chazz's girlfriend, Kayla, gets upset with him and kicks him out. The band then decides to try something big. They want to get their demo tape played on the local rock station, KPPX.

Taking Over the Radio Station

The Lone Rangers try to sneak into the radio station through a back door. After a few tries, a station worker named Suzzi comes out. The band manages to get inside before the door closes.

Once inside, they meet the chill DJ, Ian "The Shark." They talk to him on the air. The station manager, Milo, hears them and gets angry. But Ian keeps broadcasting.

Milo insults Rex, calling him "Hollywood Boulevard trash." This makes the band members mad. Chazz and Rex pull out water pistols filled with hot pepper sauce. They demand that their demo tape be played on the radio.

They set up an old tape player for their demo. But the tape quickly gets ruined because the player breaks. The band tries to leave, but the station's accountant, Doug Beech, has already called the police. The building is surrounded.

The Hostage Situation

The band talks with the police. They ask the police to find Kayla, who has another copy of their demo tape. News of the situation spreads fast because the station is still on the air. Many fans start showing up outside the radio station.

A special police team called SWAT also arrives. One SWAT officer, Carl Mace, wants to use force. But Sergeant O'Malley prefers to talk things out. A gun is secretly passed to Doug Beech through a roof vent. He had been hiding in the air ducts.

During all this, it's revealed that Milo, the station manager, secretly planned to change the radio station's music style. This would mean firing Ian and many other employees. Because of this, Ian and some other workers decide to help the band. They turn against Milo.

The Tape and the Concert

The police find Kayla, and she brings the tape to the station. But the tape is damaged because she threw it out of her car earlier. Chazz and Kayla start arguing, and they accidentally break the studio's sound system. Now, there's no way to play the tape.

As the police bring in some items the band asked for, Rex's plastic gun is revealed to be fake. Some of the hostages run out and tell the SWAT team the guns aren't real. The SWAT team gets ready to storm the station.

Doug Beech corners the band from an air vent. Ian knows he's about to lose his job. He knocks down Beech's gun. The gun fires wildly, and the police have to back off. Ian picks up the gun and gives it to Chazz.

A record executive named Jimmie Wing comes to the station. He offers the band a contract, and they agree. Wing sets up a stage and sound system on the roof. The band is supposed to play their song for the huge crowd outside.

However, the band finds out that only the sound system is real. Everything else is just props. They refuse to pretend to play their song. Instead, they smash their instruments. The crowd loves it! The band then jumps into the cheering audience.

After the Incident

Later, The Lone Rangers are seen playing a concert in prison. Kayla and Suzzi are dancing in the background. Their concert is shown live on MTV. Ian is now their manager. He says the band will start touring in six months when they get out of prison.

A message at the end of the movie says The Lone Rangers served three months in prison. Their album, LIVE IN PRISON, sold a lot of copies and became "triple platinum."
