Alton Lavan (born September 13, 1946 – died April 23, 2018) was an important person in American football. He was a player and a coach. He led the football team at Delaware State University as their head coach from 2004 to 2010. Before that, he was an interim head coach for the last three games of the 2003 season at Eastern Michigan University.
Al Lavan played college football at Colorado State University. He also played professionally for the Atlanta Falcons in the National Football League (NFL). He grew up in Newark, New Jersey, and went to South Side High School, which is now called Malcolm X Shabazz High School.
