Al Roberts was born on January 6, 1944. He is a well-known American football coach. He has worked with many teams, from high school to professional leagues. Currently, he coaches at O'Dea High School in Seattle, Washington. He helps with special teams, running backs, and outside linebackers.

Playing Career
Al Roberts went to Merced High School in Merced, California. He loved playing college football. He played for the University of Washington in 1964 and 1965. Later, he played for the University of Puget Sound from 1967 to 1968. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Puget Sound.
Coaching Career
Al Roberts started his coaching journey in high school. From 1969 to 1972, he was an assistant coach at Mercer Island High School. Then, he became the head coach at Garfield High School from 1973 to 1976.
College Coaching
Roberts moved to college football in 1977. He became the running backs coach for the University of Washington. He worked there until 1982, helping players improve their skills. After that, he had short coaching jobs at Purdue University (1986) and the University of Wyoming (1987). He coached running backs and special teams at these colleges.
Professional Football Coaching
In 1983, Roberts joined the Los Angeles Express. This was a team in the United States Football League (USFL). He coached running backs there. He then moved to the Houston Oilers in the National Football League (NFL). He coached running backs for them in 1984 and 1985.
Roberts became a special teams coach for several NFL teams. He worked with the Philadelphia Eagles from 1988 to 1990. Then, he coached for the New York Jets from 1991 to 1993. He also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals from 1994 to 1995.
In 1996, Roberts returned to the University of Washington as a running backs coach. From 1997 to 2002, he led the special teams for the Cincinnati Bengals. He also coached for the St. Louis Rams from 2007 to 2008. Later, he coached for the Florida Tuskers from 2009 to 2010.
Return to High School Coaching
Al Roberts returned to high school coaching. He was the head coach at Garfield High School again from 2003 to 2006. Since 2011, he has been coaching at O'Dea High School. He helps with special teams, running backs, and outside linebackers.
Family
Al Roberts is married to Arvella. They have two sons named Kali and Kyle. They also have a daughter named Genesis.
