Alexander is a small village located in Genesee County, New York, in the United States. In 2020, about 518 people lived there. The village is named after an early settler, Alexander Rea.
Alexander village is found within the larger Town of Alexander. It's in the southern-central part of the town, just south of Batavia.

History of Alexander Village
The village of Alexander was started by Alexander Rea. He bought the land in 1802. The village officially became a recognized community in 1834.
Geography and Location
Alexander village covers a total area of about 1.1 square kilometers (0.44 square miles). All of this area is land.
The Tonawanda Creek flows through the village towards the northeast. This creek eventually flows into the Niagara River. Alexander is located where two important roads meet: Alexander Road (NY Route 98) and Broadway (US Route 20).
- NY 98 goes north about 8 miles (13 km) to Batavia, which is the main town of the county. It goes south about 3 miles (5 km) to Attica.
- US 20 goes east about 26 miles (42 km) to Avon. It goes west about 22 miles (35 km) to Depew.
- The big city of Buffalo is about 32 miles (51 km) west of Alexander.
Famous Person from Alexander
- Barber Conable (1922–2003) was an important person from this area. He was a U.S. congressman for Genesee County from 1965 to 1985. Later, he became the president of the World Bank from 1986 to 1991.
