Ali Jaber (Arabic: علي جابر) was born in 1961. He is a well-known Lebanese journalist, media consultant, and TV personality. He is also the Group TV Director for MBC, which is the biggest satellite TV network in the Arab world.

Ali Jaber's Education and Leadership Roles

Ali Jaber studied business administration at the American University of Beirut, finishing in 1984. He then earned a master's degree in communications from Syracuse University in the US in 1986.

In 2008, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum asked Ali Jaber to create a new school. This school, called the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Communication (MBRSC), opened at the American University in Dubai. Ali Jaber became its Dean. The school teaches journalism and digital storytelling. It is special because it teaches all media writing classes in Arabic. It also focuses on digital media and telling stories across many platforms.

Ali Jaber is also on the board of directors for two important groups. These are the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) and Young Arab Leaders (YAL).

He was also named one of the 500 Most Influential Muslims in the world. This list was made by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre.

In 2011, Ali Jaber spoke at the TEDxBeirut conference. He talked about "The Global Classroom," a project he started at the American University in Dubai with Cisco. This project was the first in the Arab world to let students learn from top professors and business leaders from all over the world.

Ali Jaber's Career in Television

After finishing his studies, Ali Jaber returned to Beirut. He joined the Fine Arts faculty at Beirut University College. There, he helped start their Broadcasting Department. For eight years, he taught many courses on how to produce television shows.

While working as a journalist in Beirut, Ali Jaber interviewed Rafik Hariri in 1992. Hariri later became the prime minister of Lebanon. Ali Jaber was then asked to help create Future TV. This was a private pan-Arab television station owned by Hariri. Ali Jaber managed Future TV until 2003. During this time, he also started and managed Zen TV, a sister channel for young people. He ran Zen TV for five years.

In 2004, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai, asked Ali Jaber to be a consultant. His job was to improve and relaunch four satellite channels for Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI).

By 2006, he became DMI's Managing Editor. He had successfully built and managed seven channels for DMI. These included Dubai TV, Dubai One, Sama Dubai, Dubai Sports One, Dubai Sports Two, Dubai Racing, and Noor Dubai.

Working closely with Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ali Jaber's role grew. He became responsible for helping the media industry in the UAE grow and develop.

Since September 2011, Ali Jaber has been the group TV director of MBC. He is in charge of MBC's 13 television channels. This includes MBC MASR, which started broadcasting in 2012.

He is also a judge on MBC's popular show, Arabs Got Talent. His judging style has led some people to compare him to Simon Cowell. Because of the show's popularity, Ali Jaber became a household name in the region.

In 2014, Sheikh Hamdan Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, created The Dubai Council for Design and Fashion. Ali Jaber was named a board member of this council. The council works to make Dubai a world leader in design and fashion.

Ali Jaber's Journalism Work

Ali Jaber worked as a journalist covering important events. He reported on the Lebanese Civil War and the Gulf War between 1987 and 1999. He was a correspondent for The New York Times and The Times of London from 1989 to 1994. He was also the Chief Correspondent for Lebanon and Syria for the German Press Agency (DPA) from 1987 to 1999.

Volunteer Work

During the civil war in Lebanon, Ali Jaber volunteered for the Red Cross. He has also volunteered for many years with a Lebanese group that helps children with mental disabilities. Currently, he is an ambassador for SANAD, which is a home hospice association in Lebanon.
