Alta is a small community in Teton County, Wyoming, in the United States. It's a special kind of place called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area with a population that's counted by the census, but it isn't an officially organized city or town.
In 2020, about 429 people lived in Alta. It's part of the wider Jackson area, which is a group of communities that are connected. Alta is located between Driggs, Idaho and the popular Grand Targhee Resort ski area.

- They can attend schools in nearby Driggs, Idaho. These include Teton Middle School (for grades 6-8) and Teton High School (for grades 9-12). These schools are part of the Teton School District #401.
- Another option is to attend secondary schools in Jackson, Wyoming. Jackson is about 40 miles (64 kilometers) away. To get there, students would travel over Teton Pass, which is 8,431 feet (2,570 meters) high!
Alta's Public Library
Alta also has its own public library. It's a branch of the Teton County Library system, where kids and adults can find books and other resources.
