Teton Pass is a high mountain road in the western United States. It is found at the southern end of the Teton Range in western Wyoming. This pass connects the towns of Wilson, Wyoming in Wyoming and Victor in Idaho. It offers a way to travel from the Jackson Hole valley in Wyoming to the Teton Valley in eastern Idaho. You can also reach Grand Targhee Resort through Driggs, Idaho, from here. South of the pass, you will find the Snake River Range.

What is Teton Pass?

Teton Pass is a special road that goes over a mountain. It is part of Wyoming Highway 22 in Wyoming. When you cross into Idaho, it becomes Idaho State Highway 33. This road then goes northwest to Victor and north to Driggs.

How High is the Pass?

The highest point of Teton Pass is about 8,431 feet (2,570 meters) above sea level. This is like being on top of a very tall building! This high point is about 11 miles (18 kilometers) from Jackson.

Driving on the Pass

The road on Teton Pass can be quite steep. Some parts have a 10% grade, which means it goes up or down very quickly. Along the road, there are places where avalanches can happen. One famous spot is called Glory Bowl.

Winter Driving and Safety

During winter, the road is often closed in the mornings. This happens so the Wyoming Department of Transportation can control avalanches. They make sure the snow is safe before people drive on the road.
