Altach is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Feldkirch area of Vorarlberg, which is the most western state in Austria. It is a vibrant community known for its history and sports.

A Look at Altach's Past
The region where Altach is located was once ruled by the Habsburgs. They were a powerful family who governed many parts of Europe. From 1805 to 1814, Altach was part of Bavaria, a region in Germany. After that, it became part of Austria again. Since 1861, Altach has been a part of the Austrian state of Vorarlberg. For ten years, from 1945 to 1955, Altach was in the area of Austria that was controlled by France after World War II.

Sports in Altach
Altach is well-known for its football (soccer) team, SC Rheindorf Altach. As of the 2021-22 season, this team plays in the Bundesliga. This is the highest level of football in Austria, which is pretty exciting for a town like Altach!
Getting Around Altach
Altach has its own train station, Altach railway station. This station is on a main railway line that connects different parts of Austria. You can travel west to Bregenz or east towards Feldkirch and Bludenz. From there, the train line continues over the Arlberg Railway to Innsbruck and even further. The S1 train service of the Vorarlberg S-Bahn also stops at Altach railway station, making it easy to get around the region.
