Where is Alton Located?
Alton is found in Belknap County, New Hampshire. The center of this community is where two main roads, New Hampshire Routes 11 and 140, meet.
It is about one mile south of Lake Winnipesaukee, a very large and famous lake. The area near the lake is called Alton Bay.
Natural Borders and Roads
Alton CDP has natural borders like the Merrymeeting River to the south. To the west, there is an unnamed lake along the Merrymeeting River.
Important roads like Route 28, Route 11, and Route 140 connect Alton to other towns. For example, Route 28 goes north to Wolfeboro and southwest to Pittsfield. Route 11 connects Alton to Rochester and Laconia.
