Alum Rock is a busy area in Birmingham, England. It's like a neighborhood located about 2 miles east of the city center. It's officially part of a larger area called Saltley.

Exploring Alum Rock
Alum Rock is known for its main street, Alum Rock Road. This road is about 3 kilometers long. It starts at Saltley Gate and goes all the way to Railway Bridge. After the main shops, the road continues towards Stechford. It passes through an area called Pelham. Then it joins Washwood Heath Road near the Fox & Goose pub. The eastern part of this road is in Ward End.
Locally, people sometimes call this area "The Rock". This part starts at Saltley Gate. It ends where Highfield Road and Bowyer Road meet.
Did you know that Stephen Duffy, a singer and songwriter, grew up in Alum Rock? He was one of the first members of the famous band Duran Duran.
Rockwood Academy is a secondary school right here in Alum Rock.
Alum Rock covers a big part of Saltley. So, it touches many nearby areas. To the south, you'll find Bordesley Green. Ward End is to the north and east. And Nechells is to the west.

How Alum Rock is Governed
Until 2018, Alum Rock was part of the Washwood Heath ward. A ward is like a local district for elections. After some changes in 2018, the area is now in its own ward. This new ward is simply called Alum Rock ward.
Information from the 2001 Census shows some interesting facts. The Alum Rock ward has more people living in a smaller space. The people living here are also younger on average. There are many different ethnic groups living in Alum Rock. This makes it a very diverse community.

The Saltley Gate Peace Group is an organization in Alum Rock. It gets its name from the local roundabout. This roundabout leads to Alum Rock Road, the main shopping area.

- Brookhill Tavern, a pub with a special Grade II listing. This means it's an important historic building.
Sports in Alum Rock
The Alum Rock area has its very own football club. It was started in the 1990s by Farid Khan. Alum Rock FC plays in the South Birmingham Football League every season. The club is now looking to grow even more. They want to include youth teams along with their main senior team.
