Amanda Rheaume (born May 25, 1982) is a talented Métis folk singer and songwriter from Canada. She writes and performs her own songs.
Amanda grew up in Ottawa, Ontario. She is a member of the Métis Nation of Ontario, a group that supports Métis people. Her family has Objiwe/Anishinaabe ancestors from Lac Seul, Ontario. Her grandfather, Eugène Rhéaume, was one of the first Métis members of Canada's parliament. This means he helped make laws for the country.

Amanda Rheaume's Music Career
Amanda Rheaume started her music career by releasing several shorter music collections called EPs. She also added a song to an Ottawa music album in 2003. Her first full album, Light of Another Day, came out in 2011. After this, she went on her first big concert tour across Canada. She also traveled to Afghanistan several times to perform for Canadian soldiers.
Songs About Heritage
After learning more about her family's history, Amanda began writing songs inspired by her Métis background. Her 2013 album, Keep a Fire, was all about this. The album won an award for Indigenous Songwriter of the Year in 2014. It was also nominated for a Juno Award for Indigenous Album of the Year.
In 2016, she released another album called Holding Patterns. This album was also nominated for an Indigenous Songwriter award.
Later Music and Projects
In 2018, Amanda performed at a special concert to honor musician Gord Downie. She sang two songs there. In 2019, she released her fourth album, The Skin I'm In.
In 2021, Amanda Rheaume teamed up with ShoShonna Kish from the band Digging Roots. They started their own record company called Ishkōdé Records. This company helps release music by Amanda, Digging Roots, and other singers like Aysanabee and Morgan Toney.
Her 2022 album, The Spaces in Between, was produced by Hill Kourkoutis. She received her third nomination for Indigenous Songwriter of the Year in 2023.
Besides making music, Amanda Rheaume also works behind the scenes in the music world. She is a director for the International Indigenous Music Summit. She also helps create a National Indigenous Music Office. These roles help support Indigenous musicians.
